Breaking the Stigma: Building Community by Understanding Addiction

Friday January 26, 1:00–5:00pm
Level 2, Meeting Room 18

Addiction impacts people from every part of society. Due to the increasing prevalence of strong synthetic opioids like fentanyl, addiction is often deadly. "Fentanyl was associated with 368 overdose deaths in British Columbia between January and April 2017, according to a report from the BC Coroners Service. That is a 115 per cent increase over the same period in 2016." (Globe and Mail, August) With the current overdose crisis we are seeing across the country, it is timely to consider the different aspects of addiction, and how we, as a Christian community, can support our neighbours who are caught in this battle.
