Haiti Earthquake Relief:

The tragic earthquake of January 12th 2010 has left hundreds of thousands homeless in Haiti. While immediate emergency relief is no longer the issue, the long-term task of rebuilding this nation, known as the poorest in the Western Hemisphere, will take months and years.
Missions Fest encourages people interested in sending financial aid to do the following:

The Canadian government has pledged to match individual donations given through Christian denominations and mission agencies. In most cases you can either give through a local church or use a mission agency website to give your Haiti Relief offering.

Agencies which receive the Canadian government matching grant include:

-Mennonite Central Committee
-Mission Aviation Fellowship
-Salvation Army
-Samaritan’s Purse
-World Vision

Many other agencies or denominations are also eligible for the matching grant. Check with your denominational headquarters, agency office, or local church for further information.

For those who appreciate the personal touch, working with someone who has lived in the country of Haiti, we recommend contacting Art and Betty Tiede of Global Outreach Mission. They have years of ministry experience in Haiti. Betty served on the Missions Fest board for six years and has been an exhibitor for more. They have representatives on the ground in Haiti and are registered with the Canadian government to receive the matching donation. The Tiede’s will be traveling to Haiti to help with the relief and reconstruction efforts. For more information contact Art & Betty at bltiede@gmail.com.

Samaritan’s Purse is in need of personnel to assist in Haiti. Anyone interested can email their CV to Kristen at kklok@samaritan.ca  Most needed are people who are fluent in French (or Creole), that have medical skills, experience in relief work, or experience in security (police or military).
Thank you for your support and visible demonstration of Christian love.
