Special Project

Every year Missions Fest Vancouver invites our participants (churches, organizations, individuals, and volunteers) to give gifts.

For this year, we partnered with the Mennonite Central Committee BC (MCC BC) to be our 2017 Special Project. The items that we are asking Missions Fest Vancouver attendees to provide are assembling RELIEF KITS of supplies that be distributed to individuals and families affected by the violence in Syria, Iraq and the surrounding areas.

These contents can be provided in a box or bag and delivered to Missions Fest Vancouver Conference, January 27-29th, 2017.

MCC’s work in the Middle East

Since civil war broke out in Syria in 2011, more than 11 million Syrians have been forced to leave their homes. Many of these men, women and children have fled to nearby countries, however many have been forced to flee within Syria, moving from town to town to avoid fighting. Wherever the displaced people and refugees go, they need safety, shelter, friendship, food and water, education and jobs.

Since the conflict began, MCC has responded with its largest ever humanitarian effort, raising more than $34.6 million (USD) to address the injustices faced by millions of Syrian, Iraqis and people in neighboring countries who have been impacted by violence.

refugeeEach year, MCC sends tens of thousands of relief kits around the world to people impacted by war and disaster.  These kits include enough hygiene supplies to meet a family’s basic needs in times of crisis.  We may take these simple supplies for granted, however during these times, even the most basic hygiene items are hard to come by.

MCC’s relief kits provide practical help to those affected by crisis.  When people are uprooted by war or disaster, these kits help them remember that they are not forgotten in the midst of turmoil.

We look forward to seeing you and your relief kit at Justice & The Gospel, MFV conference, – Jan 27-29th, 2017! For questions contact, office@missionsfestvancouver.ca.
