Missions Fest Announces Appointment of Executive Director

Meet John Hall:

john hallThe Board of Missions Fest is pleased to announce that John Hall will join the staff of Missions Fest Vancouver on April 7th, 2014.  John will work together with current Executive Director, Dwayne Buhler, over the months of April and May, taking on the position of Executive Director at the AGM on May 15, 2014.

John Hall is a man with a passion for mission; he views mission not just as an activity but as a primary characteristic of God.

John’s experience and strengths include both business / marketing management and hands-on ministry. He holds a Master’s degree from Regent College (Master of Arts in Theological Studies with a concentration in Spiritual Theology), as well as a BA from the University of Waterloo, with concentrated studies in business, leadership training, and program planning.

Early in his career, John spent time in Singapore where he developed managerial experience in a large sports club, responsible for operations and risk management.  Back in Canada he was a founding partner in Eco Outdoor Sports, a chain of three specialty outdoor stores in the Greater Vancouver area. In 2003 he sold his business and worked as a private contractor to build and renovate homes. He served as a volunteer with homeless inner-city youth, has led short-term mission trips to Africa, and was involved in various ministries (Iris Ministries, Impact Nations, Rise Up BC). In 2010 he returned to Regent to complete his studies and graduated in 2011. He and his wife planned to return to SE Asia and were missionary appointees with OMF, but did not leave Canada due to health reasons.

John then took his business and marketing experience in a new direction when he assumed the ground-breaking position of International Recruitment Manager (later to become Recruitment and Admissions) at Regent College. Utilizing his entrepreneurial experience, social science background, and firsthand experience of international cultures he created an effective International Recruitment Plan for the college, resulting in increased enrollment.

John, his wife Wei, and their two children live in Richmond and attend the Tapestry Church. We welcome them as they give leadership to the Board and to the ministry of Missions Fest Vancouver.

So excited to see this appointment. Lots of prayer by many people has resulted in a God appointed choice I believe. We look forward to seeing what God will do through John and the rest of the team as they lead us. A huge thank you to the search committee headed by Bruce Mills, who spent many, many hours deliberating and praying. Not an easy task. Thanks for your commitment to Missions Fest. Missions Fest Film Festival looks forward to working together with John and the team.
