The Right Place and Time

Dwayne Buhler in 1990It was a case of being in the right place at the right time. I came to hear Don Richardson, the author of Peace Child, and left with a sense of direction for my life. I signed up for a short-term mission trip to show the Jesus Film in Brazil, and never looked back. Missions Fest ’84 was one of the signposts which God used to call me into a life of service. My wife and I served as missionaries for ten years in Brazil, followed by five years in Mexico City.

In 30 years many others have come to Missions Fest and left with a renewed sense of God’s direction and timing. Countless individuals have touched Canada and the world as they responded to a message they heard or a seminar they attended. Many have entered into a partnership with a ministry they encountered on the exhibition floor. God’s timing in bringing people, agencies, and His purposes together has been evident.

We may not always understand God’s timing as it is beyond human comprehension. This was the case of Queen Esther, who rose to a high position “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). It was true for Jesus, who we are told came to earth “in the fullness of time” (Galatians 4:4). It continues to motivate Christ’s followers today as they watch the “signs of the times” and the coming kingdom of heaven (Matthew24:5-8).

Dwayne Buhler todayIt is my prayer that when people come to Missions Fest that they’ll have an open heart and listening ears. We trust that the Spirit of God will use our speakers and seminar presenters to move individuals to become involved with spiritual and physical challenges. As you hear the stories of men and women who live on the front lines of a world which needs to see God’s compassion and love, be reminded that there are still people who have not heard the name of Jesus. Recall that as followers of Christ
we exist for such a time as this, and that you just
may be in the right place at the right time.
