Privacy Code
Overview:
At Missions Fest Vancouver, we respect your privacy and the laws governing it, and are
committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding your personal information. To demonstrate
this commitment, we have adopted this Privacy Code that lists the privacy principles we observe.
This Privacy code is freely available through our website(s) and from our Privacy Officer.
Consent:
Missions Fest Vancouver will not collect, use or disclose your personal information
without your informed consent (whether express, deemed or implied), except where required or
permitted by law.
You may, at any time, withdraw your consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your personal
information, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. However, consent is
required for the provision of certain services, and we will inform you which services would be
affected by the withdrawal of consent.
Collection:
Missions Fest Vancouver may collect personal information for one or more of the
following purposes, depending upon specific circumstances:
- Fund-raising activities;
- Recruitment and involvement of volunteer staff;
- Christian evangelism and discipleship activities;
- Mentoring, counseling and follow-up activities;
- Training and instructional activities;
- Writing, editing and publishing of stories in diverse media;
- Recording and processing donations;
- Analysis for management purposes;
- Creation and filing of statutory reports;
- Legal or regulatory requirements;
- Statistical analysis and research activities;
- Prevention of criminal activity and the detection, apprehension and prosecution of offenders.
Disclosure:
Personal information collected by Missions Fest Vancouver is collected only for our own
requirements, and we do not sell or share your personal information with outside organizations.
There are, however, a few exceptions. We might, with your consent, provide personal information to
another organization within the international Missions Fest community if we have no local
presence where you are located or if their activities are more closely matched to your needs and
requirements. We may also disclose personal information to meet regulatory reporting
requirements, or otherwise with your consent or as required or permitted by law.
Principles:
It is the policy of Missions Fest Vancouver to control the collection, use and disclosure
of personal information in accordance with all requirements of applicable laws. The following
principles have been adopted by Missions Fest Vancouver, subject to exceptions
permitted under applicable laws.
Principle 1 - Accountability
Missions Fest Vancouver is responsible for all personal information under its control,
and its Privacy Officer is responsible for our compliance with the principles described in this Privacy
Code.
Principle 2 - Purposes
Missions Fest Vancouver will identify the purposes for which personal information is
collected at or before the time that information is collected, except where otherwise required or
permitted by law.
Principle 3 - Consent
Missions Fest Vancouver will require an individual’s knowledge and consent for the
collection, use and/or disclosure of personal information, except where otherwise required or
permitted by law.
Principle 4 - Limits
Missions Fest Vancouver will limit the amount and type of personal information
collected to what is appropriate and required for its purposes. We will always collect personal
information by fair and lawful means.
Principle 5 - Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention
Missions Fest Vancouver will not use or disclose personal information for purposes
other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required or
permitted by law. Personal information will be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment
of these purposes, except as permitted or required by law.
Principle 6 - Accuracy
Missions Fest Vancouver will make reasonable efforts to ensure personal information as
accurate, complete and up-to-date as necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used.
Principle 7 - Security
Missions Fest Vancouver will protect personal information with reasonable safeguards
appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
Principle 8 - Transparency
Missions Fest Vancouver will be open about its policies and procedures regarding the
collection, use, disclosure and retention of personal information. We will ensure that individuals are
reasonably able to acquire easily understandable information about these policies and procedures.
Principle 9 - Access
Upon written request, Missions Fest Vancouver will inform an individual of the
existence, use and disclosure of his or her personal information and will provide access to that
information, except where the law requires or permits us to deny access.
Changes:
We reserve the right to change our privacy policies and practices at any time, provided such changes
are permitted by applicable law. We reserve the right to make the changes in our privacy practices
and implement them immediately but will obtain your consent before using your information for a
purpose not previously identified.

If you wish to make a formal complaint about our privacy practices, you may make it in writing to
our Privacy Officer, who will acknowledge receipt of your complaint and ensure that it is
investigated and that you are provided with a formal decision and reasons in writing.
